10 Things You Should Do Everyday

Writer: Sarah MaharajSarah Maharaj

There are times when you feel mentally and physically drained, just like your phone battery when on one percent 1%. Your routine expression, urgh do I really have to leave my bed today. Days become monotonous so the quickest solution, run to the nearest Rituals or Starbucks for your daily dose of coffee to help you get through the day. But why should you have a basic routine when each day is new? Here are some of my everyday activities that can help recharge you the right way and add a whole lot of sunshine to your day. My suggestions are simply geared towards showing you how productive and amazing each day can be.

1. Get Organized

If my environment is not organized, my brain also feels cluttered. Being organized can mean little things like, having a tidy room, picking out your outfits for work or school the night before. Also, have a To Do List, for me this makes life much easier. The satisfaction of checking those boxes makes you feel super accomplished. Set goals and achievements for the week it will help you to hone your focus.

2. Try Something New

Do not box yourself in. Cross that line learn or try something new. With technology at our fingertips there is a wealth of information out there to explore. Totally exhausted from your current job? Turn a skill or a hobby into a SIDE HUSTLE. Do what you love whilst earning some extra cash. How about trying new foods, travel, create a home garden, go outdoors. Disregard the what if's and Maybe's. Do not get stuck in a life where the essence of joy has escaped. Get to know yourself, explore the unknown for the thrill of a NEW, UNIQUE EXPERIENCE.

3. Do Good (Random Acts of Kindness)

Do good and good will follow you. This doesn't mean you have to do some grand gesture. Simple things you do will have a greater impact than you know. Share a smile, say good-morning, give someone a compliment, hold the door. That happy positive energy will infect others to do and be the same. You can even volunteer your time to help those in need. A study done by Harvard Health Publications noted that volunteering and helping others can help you reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated and provide a sense of purpose.

4.Work out

WORKOUT! You will feel so much more ENERGIZED and PRODUCTIVE. Before my early morning workout sessions, I would feel so worn out and lethargic. Try and be ACTIVE. This doesn't have to mean only going to the gym. Try and make exercise fun. Dance, run, jog, walk, or jump-rope. Whatever you do get a little physical activity in everyday.

5. Sleep

SLEEP! My middle name. We can all be walking zombies without sufficient sleep. Quality sleep plays a very important role in the overall well-being of your life. Without it you can easily crash and burn. Sleep helps you to be more productive and function throughout the day. Therefore tasks wont seem as tedious, and your mood would be refreshed to complete any activity.

6. Pamper Yourself!

After a long day or week consisting of taking care of the kids, the hustle and bustle of finishing assignments and meeting deadlines, you deserve some me time. PAMPER YOURSELF! After all self love is the best kind of love. Spend a day at a hotel, relax unwind at the pool with a cocktail. Distress and do things that bring you sheer bliss. If shopping helps take away that God forbidden headache, then have at it. Work got you stressed? Take a me day, we are not robots, mental days are essential.

7.Eat healthy

This is really tough. I know this all too well. Fast food is one of my guilty pleasures, I love, love, fries. Every now and again you can indulge yourself. But make an effort to eat healthy food everyday. My suggestions are to have fruits or a salad as a snack. Make a smoothie, and make sure to have your 8 glasses of water, your body and skin will graciously thank you.

8. Stay informed & Updated (Current Affairs)

I'm not talking about what's the newest Kardashian craze or the latest drama happening in reality TV. Having an intellectual conversation is much more stimulating. Why not have the best of both worlds beauty and brains. It is very important to know what is going on in the world, after all this is our home! Whether you watch the news, surf the web, and read the newspapers I encourage you to stay informed. Major local and global news are unfolding everyday and it affects us all.

9. Spend Time with Friends and Family

Surround yourself with people that care and love you. Stay away from those that are toxic! Time with friends and family creates strong personal relationships. Relationships are a big part of life. We can set goals and achieve all that we want in the world, but if we don't have people to share and enjoy it with, it is of no use.

10. Meditate, Read, Pray!

Never take each day for granted. The best way to appreciate everyday is being thankful through prayer . Whatever your religious belief and practices remember to exercise prayer. Meditate and reflect on the blessings of your life. Whether it is a strong support system of family and friends, a full stomach, or a job. Whatever it may be, be contented because not everyone is blessed with the same things in life that you do.

Cheers & Have A Productive Week!

Always Remember,

Love Your Journey
