Snuggled between the hills of the Northern Range, is a beautiful place to escape the hustle and bustle of the everyday routine. The Santa Cruz Valley, is paradise within paradise. Historically Santa Cruz is known for its cocoa plantations and is also home to cricket big names Brian C. Lara and Jeffrey Stollmeyer. Now you can add one more destination to your list of activities whilst passing through the lush valley of Santa Cruz. The San Antonio Green Market! But keep your eyes peel, because if you don’t you could easily miss the turn of to the market.
Ever heard the saying that life’s journey can be filled with unpredictable beauty and surprises. This is exactly what came to mind when I first visited the Green Market. The San Antonio Green Market, is much more than a market. It’s a place for embracing local entrepreneurs in a relaxed setting, coupled with enjoying the simplicity of fellowship.
Though a small space there is so much interesting stuff happening that the experience is worthwhile. The thatched huts, which stand on wooden stilts surrounded by hills and picturesque gardening makes sure to give you an easy breezy feeling, where shopping is made easy. The vendors are very infectious with their welcoming and ready to help spirit. I met Andrea, who is only 13 years and is the owner of Tata's. Her business is centred around taking reusable items and making them into jewellery. I taught this was pretty cool. Her inspiration comes from her mom who is also creative and by following in her footsteps she is learning independence at an early age.
You can tell that this market has a clear voice, and is the place where you need to be. Not only is The San Antonio Green Market slowly but surely becoming a well-known tourist attraction in T&T. It’s a great spot to bring your family and friends or even a love one on a date, where you can enjoy the best in local treats.
On your way to Maracas beach? You can stop by for breakfast. Hot Coffee, freshly brewed cocoa, Bake and buljol, tasty empanadas or even a roti sandwich. You name it the Green Market has it! For all the flower and gardening lovers, not to worry one bit. They’ve got you covered. With an array of fruit and vegetable plants to beautiful flowers of all colours and types. There are creative booths for kids where they can make crafts or hear stories, whilst you mommies and daddies shop and have some relax time. What's really cool, is that the market caters to all people whether young or old!
Kudos to the team that envisioned this beautiful place into existence, so that people from all walks of life can appreciate. I recommend anyone who’s in the area to stop by. Guys make time and head down to the Green Market you won’t be disappointed. You’re more likely to get hooked into making it a weekend ritual!
Always remember,
